Who this article is for
This article is for:
New Nestwise borrowers who have recently closed
Anyone unsure where or how to make their first payment
Borrowers who want to set up auto-pay or see their payment options
How to set up your first mortgage payment
Your first mortgage payment is typically due 30–60 days after closing, depending on the day your loan funded.
Nestwise will send clear instructions, and your dashboard will show your exact due date and amount.
Here’s how to get everything set up.
1. Check your dashboard for your first due date
Your Nestwise dashboard displays:
Your first payment due date
Your monthly payment amount
Your payment breakdown (principal, interest, escrow)
Future due dates
Available payment options
This is the most accurate place to confirm when your first payment is due.
2. Look for your payment instructions email
Shortly after closing, Nestwise sends an email with:
Your due date
Payment setup instructions
How to enroll in auto-pay
What to expect if your loan is transferring to a servicer
This email is a key part of your post-close onboarding.
3. Create your payment profile
You can make your payment by:
Bank transfer (ACH)
Auto-draft (recommended)
Your servicer’s online payment portal (if transferred)
To set up auto-pay, you’ll enter your:
Bank account number
Routing number
Preferred draft date (if available)
Auto-pay ensures you never miss a payment and protects your loan standing.
4. If your loan has transferred to a servicing partner
Many Nestwise loans transfer to a specialized servicing partner.
If this applies to you:
Nestwise will notify you
The new servicer will send a welcome letter
You will receive updated payment instructions
You will set up your payments through the servicer’s portal
Your loan terms, rate, and payment amount do not change.
5. Verify escrow and monthly amount
Your dashboard and your first statement will show:
How much goes to principal and interest
How much goes to property taxes
How much goes to homeowners insurance
This helps you understand the full breakdown of your payment.
6. Set reminders or enable auto-pay
Most borrowers choose auto-pay because it:
Prevents late payments
Protects credit
Ensures timely Nestmatch contributions (after launch)
If Nestmatch™ is active, on-time payments are required to earn rewards.
7. When you should contact support
Contact Nestwise if:
You’re unsure where to make your first payment
You haven’t received a welcome or transfer notice
Your dashboard isn’t showing your payment information
Your first payment fell earlier than expected
Support can walk you through your payment setup step-by-step.
