Who this article is for

This article is for:

  • Borrowers completing their Nestwise application

  • Anyone preparing documents for underwriting

  • People concerned about online identity verification

How identity verification works at Nestwise

Identity verification is a required step for every Nestwise mortgage.
It helps protect you from fraud, ensures your information is accurate, and meets federal lending regulations.

The process is digital, secure, and only takes a few minutes.

1. You’ll upload a government-issued ID

Nestwise accepts:

  • Driver’s license

  • State-issued ID

  • U.S. or foreign passport

Your ID must be:

  • Valid (not expired)

  • Clear and readable

  • Uploaded directly through your secure Nestwise dashboard

2. You’ll verify personal details

You’ll be asked to confirm:

  • Your full legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Address history

  • Social Security Number

These details must match your credit report and documentation.

3. Nestwise confirms your identity automatically

Nestwise uses secure, automated tools to verify:

  • Your ID document

  • Your personal information

  • Your credit data

  • Fraud prevention indicators

This process complies with federal Know Your Customer (KYC) and anti-fraud rules.

Most borrowers pass this step instantly.

4. You may be asked for additional steps

In some cases, Nestwise may reach out for more information, such as:

  • A clearer photo of your ID

  • Additional proof of address

  • A signed authorization form

  • A quick identity confirmation call

These requests usually happen if:

  • Your ID photo is blurry

  • Your name has changed

  • Your credit report includes alternate spellings

  • Your address does not match your documents

These requests are normal and help ensure your identity is verified correctly.

5. Why identity verification is required

Identity verification is required for:

  • Mortgage compliance rules

  • Fraud prevention

  • Credit reporting accuracy

  • Secure handling of financial information

Nestwise cannot proceed with underwriting until your identity is fully verified.

Is my information secure?

Yes.
All identity information is protected with:

  • Encrypted data transmission

  • Secure document upload technology

  • Strict access controls

Your information is stored and handled in compliance with federal security and privacy laws.
